Silk Road 2

Sogdian Merchant

34a Group Leader Alan Freeland

This group covers the same material as the Silk Roads Group 1 – just starting a term later. Are we living through the end of the American hegemony? Who were the world powers in Europe and Asia before the USA existed and what was their society like? How has their history shaped today’s one trillion dollar, Chinese 21st Century Silk Roads Initiatives? Driven by the interests & contributions of group members we will explore the history, personalities, trade, art, science, economics, and geopolitics of the countries along the Silk Roads from China and India to Europe.
